Brew Haven Coffee started with a simple idea: bring people together over great coffee. Founded in 2021 by longtime friends Shelby Smith and James Whityak, Brew Haven was born from countless conversations over cups of coffee in the heart of New Haven, Connecticut. Inspired by the city's rich history, thriving community, and love for bold flavors, they set out to create a space where both locals and visitors could gather, connect, and experience coffee at its best.
From the beginning, our mission has been quality, sustainability, and community. Every bean we roast is ethically sourced, ensuring that farmers receive fair wages and that every cup tells a story of craftsmanship and care. Our blends pay tribute to New Haven's character, from the bustling energy of Wooster Square to the calming charm of East Rock Park.
What started as a small café has now grown into something bigger—a place where coffee lovers across the country can experience New Haven's unique coffee culture, no matter where they are. We strive to minimize our impact by using 100% compostable coffee bags, recyclable packaging, and biodegradable café cups. In our café, we offer a bring-your-own-mug discount and encourage customers to choose reusable options whenever possible.
