Freedom Ride is dedicated to enriching the lives and experiences of children and adults with disabilities in the Central Florida area through therapeutic horseback riding and related activities.

With a team of loyal horses, NARHA Certified Instructors, Therapist and Trained Volunteers, Freedom Ride provides therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with many types of disabilities cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, autism, developmental delay, attention deficit disorder, deafness, blindness and many emotional and learning disabilities. Centrally located in the heart of Orlando Florida.
As the only Premier Accredited NARHA facility in the Central Florida area, we provide therapeutic riding to adults and children four years and older with Spina Bifida, developmental disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, brain injury, speech-language disorders, among others.The program began with two riders, a borrowed horse and the support of a handful of dedicated volunteers, renting space at a local barn.
Lessons are taught by a NARHA certified therapeutic riding instructor with a team of 1-3 volunteers per rider. Riders participate in tasks and games that encourage physical strengthening and cognitive improvement, while learning basic riding skills. The emphasis is on developing riding skills in a safe environment that is both therapeutic and fun. Specific goals are set for each rider at the beginning of a session based upon input from the rider’s parents.
