Nairobi, Kenya is the site of HOPE Volunteer Corps Africa. Volunteers assist the teachers in the Mukuru slums by helping the children put on plays derived from swahili folk tales. This play was entitled “Remember the Bamboo Forest” and was performed for the elders of the Mukuru village on August 1,2009. The "hyena" role is very similar to our "big bad wolf" character in american folk tales and in this case our 50 year old financial advisor from Orlando, Florida seems to be a perfect fit for the role.
