Most experts agree that one of the principal barriers to adoption is economic. And while many people have expressed concerns that adoption is too expensive, The Aristotle Foundation has done something about it. Using private funds and a partnership with the corporate community, The Foundation has already helped to create homes for countless children.
The Foundation provides support to families in a number of ways.
Direct Grants
Families can apply for outright grants from the foundation. The grant program is open to all legal adoptions including public or private agency adoptions, international, special needs or adoptions facilitated by an attorney. There is no income requirement. There is a simple one page application and the only requirement to apply is a home study, or one in progress. The Foundation's board meets four times a year, during the last week of each quarter, to award grants in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,500.
Because the Foundation was inundated with grant requests they recognized that there was a significant unmet need for financial assistance to families that no private foundation could meet. As a result of the overwhelming response, TAF looked for other ways to provide assistance. The foundation has developed exclusive partnerships in the private sector with corporations committed to promoting the interests of adoptive families, the foundation has an almost unlimited capacity to extend other financial services to augment its grant making.
Our loan programs and other services are open for any expense an adoptive family may have before, during or after their adoption is finalized. This includes all post placement services.
